Our Story

Applied Tube Technology Ltd was formed in 2010 but its history started many years earlier…

The tube end-forming side of the business can be traced back to a local Plymouth company called Roborough Engineering, which secured the rights to build the US designed Torrington Vaill end-formers and to supply related tooling sets. They enjoyed a number of years of success until the time when the owners decided to sell the business and retire.

The business was bought by Eurobend Ltd, an established local firm specialising in tube bending, who wanted to expand their portfolio of products and branch out into the wider tube manipulation and end forming market.

In the wake of the financial crisis in 2007, Eurobend Ltd ceased trading. Applied Automation (UK) Ltd obtained the intellectual property rights to the Roborough end-forming side of the business and employed several of the engineers who worked with these products.

The technical director of Eurobend, after a stint working with an Italian based tube-bending company, returned to the UK in late 2009. He, along with several other Eurobend employees, entered into discussion with the managing director of Applied Automation, and soon afterwards Applied Tube Technology Ltd was born. Re-combining the end forming engineers with the tube bending experts, and starting out on the journey that has led us to the present day.

Applied Tube Technology may have only existed since 2010, but there is over 60 years of experience in the tube-bending and end-forming sector within the company, where most of the skilled work force have many years’ experience working within the field.

The company has recently launched new models that feature an all-electric design. These advanced tube-bending and end-forming machines will sit alongside the established electric/hydraulic Hybrid CNC range, which means there’s a machine for everyone’s specification and budget.
